Since 1997, it has been the mandate of the International Cooperative Alliance Asia Pacific (ICA-AP) to train leaders, managers, and other aspiring mentors from the cooperatives with the necessary skills in entrepreneurship and business management. Through its Training of Trainers (TOT) program, the organization is able to teach a number of coaches who would want to liberate and spread the necessary technical knowledge for cooperatives, especially women members, from countries like Iran, Singapore, and the Philippines.
From financial management, bookkeeping, loan handling, to balance sheet reading, this material crafted by ICA-AP teaches trainers on how to equip people, with focus on women, with the important entrepreneurial and leadership skills. With the book divided into three main chapters, the trainer, cooperative leaders, and managers are given detailed insights with sample case studies on (1) the role of cooperatives on socio-economic development, (2) the ways on how to advocate gender equality and uses it as basis for overseeing the organization, its policies, and systems, and (3) the proper enterprise management by the use of information technology (IT) tools for operational efficiency and effective monitoring and evaluation procedures for better business decisions.
