Knowledge Resource Center (KRC)
The NATCCO Knowledge Resource Center or KRC is the newest unit within Education, Training, and Consultancy Group (ETCG). Its main objective is to act as a primary source of knowledge for every cooperative. It serves as the Research and Development arm of the federation to design programs that directly addresses the competency-development needs of primary cooperatives.
Knowledge Resource Center (KRC) would be the foundation of the Cooperative Academy of NATCCO (CAN). The academy’s role is to inculcate the values of cooperative movements among its member cooperatives, as well as to NATCCO internal employees.
KRC will gather and collect NATCCO’s information, educational programs, training programs, materials, books and manuals that can help cooperatives operate better. The consolidated knowledge resources would be utilized to institutionalize cooperatives’ best practices, and use it as learning materials for the network. As a federation, we have the responsibility to impart cooperative values, knowledges, information, skills and experiences to all its members. It is therefore also imperative to assess if the programs of the academy generated significant social impact to the cooperatives’ members.
NATCCO has vast reservoir of learning from its different programs like education, training, research, consulting and monitoring services, that needs to be preserved. In consultation with Dr. Eduardo Morato Jr., we have identified four (4) Major activities that KRC will perform and these are as follows:
Knowledge Distillation – Capacitating different members to regularly document their initiatives and community interventions to translate into professional learning materials, books and white papers
Knowledge Sourcing – Providing accessible and relevant resources to every cooperative.
Knowledge Creation – Creating cooperatives’ own thought pieces, policy and strategy papers, issue monographs and topical dissertations.
Knowledge Dissemination – Offering resources to all NATCCO members and other cooperatives who are committed to serve others their intellectual property through publications and educational or training programs.
(Resource: The 4 Knowledge Mining Activity mentioned above is taken from the project concept designed by Dr. Eduardo Morato, Jr.).
NATCCO KRC currently offers the following programs:
1. (Co-op LAMP) Cooperative Leadership And Management Program - This 10-days program is like a mini-mba, which focuses on Social Enterprise development, as well as Strong Cooperative Values. Upon completion of the program, graduates would be able to gain the CCM (Certified Cooperative Manager) title. Being a CCM, learning and leadership development is a continuous process. Thus, being a CCM, they are given extra benefits like discounts on training events, as well as access to regular learning sessions and materials.
2. (SHRMP) Strategic HR Management Program - This is a five (5) days program that covers the who spectrum of HR functions. By completing the program, the participants would be able to gain skills and insights on how they can improve their HR department or unit, by aligning employee development programs to cooperative/organization goals and objectives.
3. (LMMD) Learning Methodologies and Materials - This is a five (5) days program for trainers and instructors for cooperative sector. The program teaches SLEs (Structured Learning Exercises) and Adult learning techniques, as well as provide skills in developing modules and learning materials that they can use for the Co-ops. Also, it introduces approaches to designing leadership programs, and case study method as tool for learning.
