Abstract

Creating and facilitating trainings that respond to what the trainees need and what is effective for their learning capacities are among the primary goals of coop trainers and educators. However, the pursuit for "community relevance" of these trainings has been difficult for some educators to maintain or achieve. Some programs, due to lack of structure and formality, have been patched up with irrelevant activities due to ambiguous objectives. And due to a number of trainings that mismatch with its participants and lack a general sense of direction, resources like time and money are often wasted.

With the purpose of minimizing the instances of training mismatch, this manual guides cooperative trainers and educators on the elements, processes, and evaluation methods to create responsive, curriculum-based programs. Pertaining mostly to enterprise departments and cooperative segments, the pre-meditated concepts and topics for each type of training are provided. Some teaching methodologies, as well as possible objectives per topic are also suggested to help the instructors in their practice. In fact, most of the suggested objectives and methods revolve around the principle of participatory type of learning rather than focusing on use of lectures for pedagogy. From selection of topics, determination of relevant content, learning methods, session outlines, up to evaluation of programs, this manual gives a brief yet practical knowledge on course design.
