Since 1997, the ACCU (or the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Union) have been finding ways on how to improve the technical and functional capabilities of credit unions in areas where they are needed the most. For this reason, ACCU has been invested in using CUMI (Credit Union Microfinance Innovation) as a way to bring change for CUs who plays a huge role in enabling small-scale businesses and enterprises.
In this material, ACCU specifically targets credit unions who are supporting farming communities. Acknowledging the need of local farmers for skilling and monetization, ACCU developed and conducted a seminar on September 5 that aims to familiarize interested participants in the 10-Step Credit Union AgriFinance Methodology. The framework is a ground-up approach which identifies steps for the credit unions to follow, the inputs and processes that they need to gather, and possible LGU and LGA linkages they could establish to make their local credit union well-supported not only by the local farmers and other partner agencies.
