It is a common goal for all cooperative development organizations and institutions to create relevant and effective training programs for target intervention groups. These training programs have been important, especially in helping communities in finding out their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their points of action moving forward. However, it has been an ongoing challenge for development groups on how to make accessible and quality programs, especially with the lack of accrediting groups to encourage and referee these activities. In fact, there is great local demand in formulating competency-based courses per industry including cooperatives.
Due to this need, this material features several updates on observed practices and methods in program planning and implementation as discussed by involved social organizations that push for skills training. It briefly touches the basics of designing activity-based learning - from knowing the concept of adult learning, adapting the 4As of learning, taking in some tips on having better learning engagement, to applying competency-based curriculum design. For better appreciation of the educators, some mock brainstorming activities are provided. Aside from that, monitoring and evaluation of content and delivery are stipulated to help trainers improve their program design.
