This training manual is designed by the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) to help microfinance practitioners and trainers of credit unions familiarize and refresh themselves on the basics of microfinance and how it must be implemented by those who manage or plan to start a cooperative specializing on credit. It contains important notes on topics that talk about the good practices being done by institutions of microfinance, standard policies and practices in MFIs, credit administration systems, use of credit union management tools, and development of policies and monitoring and evaluation schemes in a credit cooperative. By discussing these guidelines, the manual also hopes to inculcate and highlight the role of credit union in communities and how it should progress in terms of its purpose and operations. Likewise, the material also aspires to shape credit managers in cooperatives into skilled, competent, and professional leaders who are able to think creatively and innovatively when faced with organizational crises.
