Abstract

Cooperative leaders and members work in unity due to a common perspective, mission or goal. Thus, in order to on achieve their desired outcomes based on its pre-identified objectives, cooperatives must value and embrace the culture of planning. This material made by the International Labor Organization (ILO) for the management of cooperatives ensures that trainers could educate and convince participant groups into dedicating themselves with the overall development of their member and business performance by familiarizing themselves with work strategization or planning. This is to equip the cooperatives with the proper skills in conceptualizing future actions, aligning and re-aligning group activities to group objectives, and committing these actions in the long run.

This manual is divided into eight modules that comprehensively cover all relevant subject matters for those who intend to guide training coops into the rigors of planning. Per module, the trainer is provided with sub-sessions stating the lesson's objectives plus a step-by-step process on how to facilitate the training activities. This material covers, in particular, the importance of planning, statement of work objectives, identification and assessment of the difficulty of future tasks, use of resources to accomplish tasks, recognition of potential hurdles to progress, as well as having group commitment to future plan of action.
