Oro Integrated Cooperative Conducts Relief Ops in Gingoog

Posted January 03, 2023

GINGOOG CITY - It was a bleak Christmas 2022 for many residents of Eastern Visayas and Northern Mindanao as heavy rains fell, producing floods and landslides.  Homes and crops were destroyed, and people spent the rest of the holidays in evacuation centers.

Twenty Barangays were affected and there were a number of casualties.

On Rizal Day, December 30, members and staff of Oro Integrated Cooperative (OIC) Gingoog Branch and Head Office in Cagayan de Oro City, gave out a total of 3,261 relief packs containing 5 kilograms of rice and 10 Litres of water to Barangays: 18, Daan Lungsod, Odiongan, Santiago, Lunao, Agay-ayan, and San Luis.

The Relief Operation was headed by the Membership and Marketing Division Manager, Mr. Judy M. Albarracin.

This is the second straight year that extreme weather has caused death and destruction over the holidays in the Philippines. In December 2021, Super Typhoon Rai came ashore in Bohol Province with the same intensity as that of a Category 5 hurricane, killing hundreds of people and forcing millions of others from their homes.
