Call to Submit Applications to First Green Co-op Award

Posted May 02, 2022

NATCCO and the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions have co-organized an award that recognizes co-operatives that exemplify Climate Action

Welcome to the Green Co-op Awards, the first-ever Asian co-op campaign to recognize, promote, and reward environmental best practices for NATCCO co-ops. The Green Co-op Award was launched last year to exemplify our commitment to SDG 13 -- Co-ops for Climate Action.

The Green Co-op Award is essential to all co-ops’ mission of uplifting the quality of life of the people as we help build safer, cleaner, and healthier homes and communities. The award also responds to the co-op principle of Concern for the Community through green practices, raising awareness for members, and integrating environmentally-sound products and services into the co-op’s core programs.

Your participation and possible victory in the award will bring prestige to your co-op by uplifting the co-op brand as a socially-responsible, financially-viable, and environmentally-sound organization. It will also bring tremendous social impact to your community and increase your co-op’s financial viability.

The winners in this year’s Green Co-op will be awarded during the Association of Asia Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) Forum 2022, a prestigious gathering of cooperatives across Asia in September 2022, which is to be held in Bangkok, Thailand.

As a pioneering award that focuses on the environment and sustainable practices, the participating co-ops will undergo the following:

1.    Submit an application form to NATCCO, along with the required documents, to ascertain qualification to participate. The Green Co-op Award looks at the sustainability of co-ops across the four indicators of the balanced scorecard. This will ensure that the award is a holistic recognition of the co-op's sustainability and resiliency.

2.    Upon qualification of the successful applicants, a participation fee of P20,000 will be paid to cover the costs of audit and awards.

3.    Self-assessment focusing on the four key areas/indicators of a Green Co-op

4.    Audit by the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) and NATCCO

5.    Validation meeting with the co-op

Let us help you harvest the gains from your green practices to get the recognition you deserve for taking care of the environment and helping your community become sustainable and resilient.
